BIOGRAPHY – MARK PATTERSON

Based in Adelaide, Mark produced the multi award winning feature film INNOCENCE (2000) with the world renowned Director Paul Cox. Mark produced the feature film DOPE (2002) with director J Harkness. Teaming again with Cox, Mark produced HUMAN TOUCH (2004), was officially selected for the Toronto, Montreal and Melbourne film festivals to name a few. Mark is also Executive Producer of Cox’s latest documentary THE REMARKABLE MR. KAYE and was broadcasted on the ABC in 2006. Mark produced the feature documentary KALAUPAPA HAVEN, another collaboration with Paul Cox. KALAUPAPA HAVEN is the moving story of the remaining leprosy patients on the Hawaiian island of Molokai. premiered at the 2007 Adelaide Film Festival, and received the Juries special mention at the Hawaii International Film Festival

Mark is currently developing the feature film THE MINDLESS FEROCITY OF SHARKS with director Jonathan Teplitzky (“Better Than Sex”, Gettin’ Square”), based on the novel of the same name. Mark is co-writing the screenplay with novelist, Brett D’Arcy. Also in development is THE POISONED WIFE with writer Sean Riley and a documentary series PAMPERED POOCH with director Kay Pavlou.

Mark was Chairman of the SA Screen Industry Council until 2007.

Mark was chosen to participate in Jonathan Olsberg’s Enterprise Tasman residential workshop in 2006.

Other credits include being the Executive Producer of Government documentaries for the South Australian Film Corporation (SAFC), numerous corporate and independent documentaries as writer/director/producer and the Australian Development Manager for the Canadian major events company, Rozon. Mark headed up the South Australian Government's funding agency, Filmsouth, and was the Manager of Film Development at the SAFC to 1995.

Mark was the Director of the 1988 Frames Film Festival, and established the video production company, Co-Media, which specialized in social issue documentary. Prior to this Mark worked in outside broadcast for SAS 7, ADS 10 and the ABC. He also worked in Aboriginal communities making documentaries and teaching filmmaking skills. He’s a passionate surfer, cook and dad.
